M97 reject, I really, REALLY pushed for 1:01. It pretty much broke my resolve to play in the summer of 2021. The first 1:02 came easily enough, but I was willing to stop there. The M97 mates pushed me to go for 1:01, which would be my first world record. Since Cavs 1:03 was my first ever points I really got into the idea and started pushing for 1:01. Over the next 2 (June-July, 2021) months I played relentlessly, racking up almost 30 dupes. But in the end it got to me, and I had to take an extended break from Caverns.
Then I got keen to play again in late October after getting Streets 1:13. I started getting dupes quickly and was feeling pretty good about the grind. I was getting dupes just about every way imaginable. Over the next five (5) weeks I was racking up 1:02s in almost every way imaginable. Here are the highlights:
- First try 1:02
- Making the drone cycle five times and getting backed or choking the warp.
- A 1:02 dupe with a 1:2 boost ratio
- Getting five 1:02s in one hour.
- Back to back 1:02s
I accumulated 74 dupes in total, but despite all of that, Caverns still got the better of me. I haven't played the level since mid-December mostly due to the holidays and then editing for M97 in the new year. I know 1:01 is within my grasp, and I really hope I can get it as a world record, my FIRST world record.
