648 days ago I achieved 1:12. I celebrated for the day and when I woke up I decided to attempt to make 1:11 into a reality. It was a longshot at first, but with the help of Ace, Ricky and Illu, Illu achieved 1:11 soon after.
Following that I played for multiple months with no success. I was so heartbroken that I left for a few months completely. When I returned, I continued to spend a few weeks at a time grinding for the remainder of 2021 and into 2022. When I didn't get it over this Spring break I convinced myself to cave in and succumb.
But 7 days ago that spark lit inside me again. Telling me to finish the job. I Instantly got a 1:12.03 to push me in the right direction, and a week later the job was finished.
Overall this is definitely the longest grind I have ever put forth in my life. The hours invested, the number of dupes, and the number of runs lost to the lasers are uncountable. It is such a relief to be done with what I'd like to call catching my White Whale.
For the music vid, I wanted to keep it simple and recap a nice happy ending to this journey.
For the run itself, it was a solid run where I had trouble lining up the panel (probably due to nerves). I decided the run was good enough and that I could play it safe. The panel lost 0.2 compared to being done optimally. Thankfully, even with the weirdest double laser skip ever, I clutched the ending just enough so that it didn't round.
